SPOKANE- Spokane Police arrested a woman who apparently lost control in a Home Depot parking lot Sunday in Spokane.
Police said Sherri Schlosser, 49, was upset an elderly couple stopped their car in a driving lane outside the store on Newport Highway. Police said the husband, 82, was driving and stopped his car in front of the Home Depot to wait for pedestrians and to let his disabled wife, 72, get out of the car.
That is when police said Schlosser drove by, nearly hitting the elderly couple’s open door, and yelled profanities at them. Investigators said Schlosser continued to confront the couple as they walked into the store, before she pulled a can of pepper spray from her purse and sprayed the woman in the face.
Schlosser ran into the store and left through a different set of doors. She continued on to her car and left the parking lot at a high rate of speed as witnesses attempted to stop her. Schlosser drove off but police tracked her down at home where they arrested her for Third Degree Assault.
Court documents say she told police the elderly woman was “asking for it” and that she sprayed the woman out of “self defense.” A judge set her bond at $2,000.
Firefighters treated the victim and she was able to go home.
