No public tickets for Sarah Palin's Republic High School speech

REPUBLIC, Wash. -- School District leaders in Republic announced that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin will speak at their commencement ceremony.

District leaders made the announcement Tuesday. Palin accepted an invitation to speak June 1st, 2013 from Republic High School.

The senior class began campaigning for Palin’s attention earlier in the year. Class President Tyler Weyer organized the campaign according to Republic High School leaders. Weyer and classmates coordinated letter writing, emails, tweets, and a full Facebook campaign.

The Republic High School Senior Class of 2013 has 27 students. Commencement ceremonies are scheduled for June 1st at Republic High School Gymnasium from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.

Republic High School will give 20 graduation tickets to each student. School leaders estimate that there will be about 150 extra seats in the gym. There are no ticket for those seats, they are first come, first serve according to school leaders.
