Sandpoint Mayor dies during battle with cancer

SANDPOINT, Idaho.--The City of Sandpoint announced the death of their Mayor on Wednesday. Mayor Marsha Ogilvie passed away Wednesday morning while surrounded by family. She had been battling cancer.

Ogilvie served as Mayor for two years.

“The loss of Mayor Ogilvie will leave an irreplaceable void in the heart of our community.  She tirelessly dedicated herself to protecting the most vulnerable and celebrating the generosity of the many volunteers who give of themselves in and around Sandpoint,” said City Council President Carrie Logan in a statement. “Mayor Ogilvie has left an indelible mark on our community and throughout her life; she exemplified the true meaning of public service,” she continued.

Details of the funeral arrangements and services were pending on Wednesday.
