2 pit bulls deemed dangerous following attack on Spokane girl

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service, SCRAPS, has deemed two dogs recently involved in an attack as dangerous.

Girl, a brown pit bull, and Demon, a black lab/pit bull mix, were involved in an incident on April 4th, 2014 on East Bridgeport in Spokane.

The dogs knocked down and bit an 8-year-old girl repeatedly, according to authorities. Officers said  two neighbors, who were attempting to help the girl, were also attacked. Both dogs are currently in the custody of SCRAPS.

The girl received more than 100 stitches according to the girl’s mother, Nakia Robert.
 
“She was bleeding from the head. It was just blood everywhere and it was kind of scary," said added Roberts.

The dog’s owner, Kathy Southern, has been charged with two misdemeanors. Criminal misdemeanor charges carry a maximum penalty of a $1,000 fine and 90 days confinement.
