The scam artists were looking for cash donations to “give back to the community.” Stevens County Fire officials warned residents in the area to never give cash donations. Officials said to contact your local Red Cross chapter if you feel the need to donate.
The Red Cross was helping fire officials and the community on Thursday and can always use the donations.
