SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash.--Many residents of South Spokane County have had their mail stolen out of their mailboxes.
The majority of the incidents involve the suspects opening mail near the victim’s house and throwing out the items with no value.
Christmas cards seem to be the primary target where the suspects are checking to see if there has been any cash sent to the victim according to authorities. Officers said another common target are packages delivered to homes where there is nobody there to accept them.
Deputies said residents should make every attempt to have someone at their home to accept delivered packages or set up alternate methods of receiving them.
Authorities also said to be cautious of placing bills in the mailbox and raising the flag for delivery personnel.
