SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- A man walking in Spokane Valley was held up for $10 and stabbed Monday night.

The victim told authorities that he was stopped around 8:30 p.m. while walking near Vista Road and Broadway. He said an adult man demanded money. The victim initially refused to handover his money according to Spokane Valley Sheriff's Deputies.

Authorities said the victim placed his hands in the air to shield the attack and was cut on his left hand. He described the weapon as an item with a sharp edge.

The victim threw his wallet on the ground and told the suspect to take it according to authorities.  He said that the suspect took a $10 bill out of his wallet and ran northbound on Vista. 

Spokane Valley Sheriff's Deputies reported that the victim received nine stitches in his left hand from the assault.
