Eastern Washington State Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers could be the next vice president of the United States, according to The Daily Caller, a 24-hour news website based in Washington D.C.
McMorris Rogers is in her second term as vice chairman of the Republican Conference. The Daily Caller named her the highest-ranking Republican woman in Washington D.C.
McMorris Rogers did not disqualify the possibility when the site questioned her.
“It’s hard for me to imagine the nominee would actually approach me, you know?” she told The Daily Caller, when asked whether she would consider taking the job. “I think I’ll just leave it at that, and we’ll see where it goes.”
After KREM2 attempted to contact the congresswoman on Friday her office released a statement saying, "It's never a bad thing to have people include her in the discussion; it really validates her work and growing influence in national politics. As for what might happen down the road-as we get to summer and fall-it's too soon to speculate on that."
The person suggesting McMorris Rodgers as a potential VP nominee, Kellyanne Conway, was the first to put Sarah Palin's name in for the same job back in 2008.
