PULLMAN, Wash. -- Police said on Monday that they are checking into several leads into the attack on a Washington State University professor. Someone attacked Dr. David Warner on Saturday morning in the College Hill area.
Investigators said that Warner was listed in critical condition on Monday afternoon at a Spokane hospital.
Officers also said that they have surveillance pictures of multiple people involved in this brutal assault. Police told KREM 2 News that they are trying to sort out the witnesses from the possible suspects. Authorities revealed on Monday afternoon that they are looking for four possible suspects including three men and a woman.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect #1: Male white, college age, 5’10” to 6’3”; was wearing a dark button-up shirt, blue undershirt, and jeans.
Suspect #2: Male white, college age, 5'10” to 6’1”, was wearing a white undershirt (possibly a V-neck t-shirt) and jeans.
Suspect #3: Male white, college age, approximately 5’10”; was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans.
Suspect #4: Female white, college age, long dark hair; was wearing a light colored sleeveless shirt, dark pants, dark shoes, and a white jacket or sweater around her waist.
Security cameras caught images of people who might have walked by the scene. However, the cameras did not catch the attack according to police.
Police said the attack took place in a parking lot in the Adams Mall parking lot on Northeast Colorado Street. Authorities arrived around 2:00 a.m. to find Warner beaten unconscious. Warner suffered a serious head injury according to officers.
Investigators told KREM 2 News that it appears that Dr. Warner was trying to break up a fight. They said that surveillance shows Warner standing between two groups who appear to be fighting. Officials do not believe that Warner was not the intended target.
