POST FALLS, Idaho.-- Friends and family members gathered Tuesday to share memories of a popular Post Falls business owner who presumably drowned the past weekend in Lake Coeur d’Alene.
Authorities were still searching for the auto body shop owner, Scott Shawver, 57, who jumped into the water during a storm Saturday. Shawver never made it back to his boat according to police.
Shawver’s friends and family said the longtime owner of Scotty’s Auto Body and RV was famous for throwing block parties in Post Falls. He had just opened a new shop earlier in 2014.
A longtime friend, Pam Houser, said memories of Shawver’s annual celebrations with food, beer and music will stick with the community for years to come.
“The more he became successful, the more he gave back to the community,” Houser said. “Everyone just knew that. He was really community first and people first, business second.”
Shawver left behind several employees who said he was always there for him .
“If you can’t pay your rent or you need to put food on the table or a shirt on your back, Scott would be there for you in whatever way you needed him to be,” said one of them who asked not to be named
