SPOKANE, Wash—Police arrested a convicted felon riding a bike with methamphetamine and a stolen shotgun Tuesday in Downtown Spokane.
Officers responded to reports of a man with a shotgun in the area of 3rd Avenue and Adams Street according to Spokane Police.
Upon arrival, police found 24-year-old Casey L. Brown riding a small bike with the full-sized firearm sticking out of his backpack. Authorities said Brown had two prior felony convictions for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Bail Jumping.
Officers arrested Brown for being in possession of a firearm and then found the meth according to police.
Through additional investigation, officers determined Brown most likely stole the shotgun during a recent vehicle prowling incident, also in the Downtown area.
Police booked Brown into Spokane County Jail. He made his first court appearance on Wednesday, facing charges for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Vehicle Prowling, and Possession of Stolen Property, Controlled Substance and Burglary Tools.
Spokane police wanted to remind the public to keep valuables out of sight in unattended vehicles and to lock car doors.
