LEWISTON, Idaho -- Police in Lewiston said an armed robbery was reported just before 3:30 Tuesday morning at a Zip Trip on Main Street near Lincoln Street in Lewiston. They arrested a suspect after recovering surveillance video of him allegedly committing the robbery.
Authorities said Joseph G. Leiterman, 20 of Lewiston was arrested after police noticed him fleeing the area in a vehicle. Police said they conducted a high-risk traffic stop where they found $43 in cash and a black pistol holster.
Authorities said a handgun was used in the alleged robbery. They said they found it near 16th Street and Main Street where police think Leiterman threw it after fleeing from his alleged crime.
Police booked Leiterman in Nez Perce County Jail on a Robbery charge. The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be applied.
