DENVER (AP) -- A Washington man accused of threatening the family of a Colorado doctor who performs late-term abortions has reached a tentative plea deal with prosecutors.
Lawyer Russell Van Camp said Friday the deal calls for his client, Donald Hertz of Spokane, to plead guilty and avoid prison time. Van Camp said the deal must be approved by a federal judge.
A hearing on the issue has not been set.
Hertz is accused of calling the Boulder Abortion Clinic in Boulder on June 23 and threatening to kill members of Dr. Warren Hern's family. The call came within weeks of the slaying of Dr. George Tiller, who operated a similar clinic in Wichita, Kan.
