SPOKANE, Wash.--A pit bull was running around biting people Wednesday near Atlantic and Division, according to authorities.
SCRAPS confirmed the dog was shot by a law enforcement officer at the Atlantic Apartments around 6:00 p.m. The dog died from its injuries.
A witness said someone was walking a pomeranian when the pit bull escaped from an apartment and attacked the dog. The witness added multiple people came out of the apartment complex and began to kick the pit bull. That is when the pit bull bit five adults.
Residents of the apartment complex said the pit bull had only been there about three months. They said they were worried about another pit bull in the complex that is filled with children.
Authorities then shot the dog. SCRAPS took the dog away from the scene.
It is the third pit bull attack in the last week in Spokane County. One of the previous attacks also ended with a dog being shot and killed.
A Spokane County Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a pit bull on Monday. Authorities said that shooting was justified because the pit bull was attacking the deputy’s K9.
