SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash.--The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary at a trailer near Barker and Appleway around 6:00 p.m. Monday in the Spokane Valley when one dog was attacked and another shot.
One deputy saw a man on the front porch of a residence who ran behind the trailer, according to authorities. Deputy Thurman yelled for the man and began a pursuit with SCSO K9 Laslo. Together, authorities said they chased the suspect around the trailer.
Deputies said a pit-bull tied to the fence near the residence broke free and bit Laslo in the leg. The deputy shot the pit-bull twice and killed it, according to authorities.
Laslo went to an emergency veterinarian and was given multiple staples in his leg. The Sheriff’s Office said Laslo was at home and doing OK around 8:00 p.m. Monday.
The suspect was still on the loose on Monday. SCSO deputies were continuing to search for him.
Authorities later confirmed the case was a domestic violence case that they were responding to. The woman that lives at the residence said her ex-boyfriend who she has a toddler with came to the house and beat on her. She said it was her ex-boyfriend who then fled on foot that authorities were chasing after.
