NEZ PERCE COUNTY, Idaho—Authorities in Nez Perce County said a pilot died early Saturday morning.
Sheriff’s deputies said they found a small airplane in a wheat field off Vollmer Road near a private landing strip.
Witnesses said they heard the plane’s engine stall just before the plane crashed. Officials believed the engine failure was the cause of the crash. The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pilot was identified as 29-year-old Bryce Winterbottom, according to the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office.
