EPHRATA, Wash. -- The Grant County Sheriff's Office said a woman died after being hit by a train in Ephrata.

Officials said it happened around 9:45 a.m. The woman's body was found at the intersection of East Division Avenue and Alder Street. The woman was struck by an eastbound Burlington Nothern-Santa Fe freight train.

Authorities said the death was an apparent suicide.

Division and Nat Washington Way will remain closed until the investigation is complete and the train can be moved. All drivers are requested to use the overpass at Highway 282 until the roads are reopened.
