LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) -- Police in northern Idaho say they've captured a Pennsylvania man who fled into the woods shortly before a drug-sniffing dog arrived and found 10 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.
Paul A. Pitonyak, 23, of Erie, Pa., was taken into custody Thursday in Orofino about 10 miles from where he was last seen Wednesday by an Idaho State Police trooper near Peck.
Police say Sgt. Ken Yount saw Pitonyak's vehicle with its hood up on U.S. Highway 12 and stopped to help.
Yount says Pitonyak became anxious and declined Yount's request to search his vehicle. Yount called for a drug dog.
Pitonyak at that point wasn't in custody and asked to walk up the highway to find cell phone service. He then disappeared.
