PORTLAND – A woman died and four others were injured after a car hit a group of people in a two-vehicle crash in Old Town early Sunday morning, police said.

Police arrested 42-year-old Brent Warstler of Cornelius on multiple charges.

Rebbecca Bray, 20, of Gresham was pronounced dead at the scene.

Just after 2:30 a.m., Warstler was driving a pickup and  ran a red light at Northeast Everett Street near Northwest 5th Avenue and crashed into a cab driven by 41-year-old Angel Olvera, said Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland Police.

The crash caused the truck to veer onto the sidewalk and hit Bray and 21-year-old Brandi Butner of Fairview, Simpson said.

Butner is expected to survive, Simpson said.

Three passengers in Warstler's truck were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Both Warstler and Olvera stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, Simpson said.

Warstler was charged with manslaughter, assault, reckless driving, and DUII.
