SPOKANE -- No arrests had been made Thursday evening following a shooting at a Spokane party.
A 20-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the head during the party on Wednesday night at a home along Newark Road.
Officers ruled the shooting accidental after interviewing witnesses and the suspected shooter. Witnesses told investigators that a 20-year-old man was in the kitchen showing a gun to a friend. The gun fired and hit a nearby woman in the head. People at the party said the victim and the suspected shooter are friends.
Investigators are now working to uncover more details including any negligence in handling the gun and whether alcohol played any roll in the incident. They are also working to figure out if the shooter was licensed to have the gun. So far, no charges have been filed.
The woman was last listed in critical condition.
