EDWARDSVILLE, Il (KMOV.com) – Over 50 animals were seized by authorities Monday from an upscale home in Illinois.
The Metro East Humane Society says police took 52 cats and three dogs from the residence after receiving multiple complaints from neighbors.
The conditions of the animals varied, but at least one dog and one cat had to be put down.
The Metro East Humane Society says the shelter is now full, but they do not euthanize animals unless they are extremely aggressive or ill, according to director Kathy Turner.
Accrding to the State’s Attorney’s office, the home owners have not been arrested because authorities are still investigating and have yet to issue charges.
Edwardsville police will be releasing a statement on the investigation, and charges are expected by Wednesday.
