COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho -- Coeur d'Alene police said they responded to an officer-involved shooting Friday night. One adult male was fatally shot.

Police said they responded to a domestic disturbance call at about 9 p.m. Friday near the 400 block of Dragon Fly Drive. A person involved in the dispute left the area with a gun before officers arrived according to police.

Officers set up a perimeter and began searching for the armed suspect, who was later found on a neighbor's back deck according to police. A resident of that home noticed the suspect with gun on the deck and secured himself and others inside.

Authorities said shots were fired after officers confronted the suspect, who received a fatal gunshot wound. No one else was injured according to police.

The incident closed off traffic to Dragon Fly, Acorn St., and Mallard as officials investigated the scene.

Idaho State Police Major Crimes led the ongoing investigation. Authorities did not immediately release the names of those involved.
