OTIS ORCHARDS, Wash. -- A pickup truck carrying three people rolled over after hitting a power pole near the state line between Washington and Idaho.
It happened around 1:15 a.m. at Wellesley and Irrigon.
The 2004 Dodge Ram was headed eastbound on Wellesley when it hit the power pole and rolled.
Two of the three men in the truck were ejected. Taylor Stacy, 18, died at the scene, and 24-year-old Derrick Wilcox was taken to Kootenai Medical Center by Medstar. He was listed in critical condition.
The Spokane County’s Sheriff’s Office says another passenger, 20-year-old Michael Steinbach, was up walking around the scene when they arrived. Medics transported him to a local hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.
Deputies say speed and alcohol are likely factors in this crash, based on the preliminary investigation.
Wellesley reopened shortly before 7 a.m. Avista crews were then able to make their way to the power pole to restore service for about 24 customers who lost it because of the crash.
Anyone who saw these men Tuesday night or Wednesday morning are asked to call detectives at 509-477-2710.
