SPOKANE -- On any given day, Susie’s Laundromat and Dry Cleaning on Spokane’s lower South Hill opens at 7:00 a.m.

On Tuesday, employees showed up to work to area roads blocked off because of a nearby crime scene.

A man died during an officer-involved shooting near 8th and Adams in the early morning hours.  The crime scene was near a busy shopping center, and businesses like Susie’s lost several hours of business waiting for police to clear the scene.

Huckleberry’s employees said they could not get into their work because the entrance to the store was inside the closed-off crime scene.

Ace Hardware did not open until 1:00 p.m.

Michael McAdams is a real estate agent who has a home office on the east side of Monroe. He heard the nearby commotion early Tuesday morning, but it did not affect his work.

Nearby business owners said they heard from plenty of customers trying to figure out why they could not get to their stores.
