BONNERS FERRY, Idaho. -- Prosecutors in Bonners Ferry said they will not seek federal charges against a man accused of leaving a pipe bomb outside the front door of a home.

Allen Stafford (aka Avery) appeared in court Friday and waived his preliminary hearing.

Stafford was arrested on suspicion of possession of an explosive device and charged with unlawful use of destructive device or bomb. Police said Avery lit the bomb before running away.

Prosecutors stipulated that he would not seek federal charges against Stafford.

Authorities are also investigating a score of burglary case they believe Stafford may have committed. Officials say the cases involve thefts from cars and thefts of firearms.

Prosecutors said the sentences for any other crimes Stafford may be charged with will run concurrent to what he is already charged with.

Stafford is in the Boundary County Jail and is being held on $300,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for April 10 at 9 a.m.
