SPOKANE, Wash. --  People living next to the homes that were raided Thursday were quite surprised. Some of them described waking up that morning to the sound of a bull horn and explosions.

Bob McCracken has a home in the Spokane Valley. Around 4:30a.m. he says he heard law enforcement on a PA system telling people who live in the home near 14th and Raymond to come out. He says when they didn't come out authorities shot tear gas into the home.

"The SWAT team actually brought out the door breaker, they broke in the side door here, went through the living room, opened the door and that's when all the tear gas, you could see it plummeting out of the house, " said McCracken.

You could see a hole punched in the door of a home near Lacey and Indiana in northeast Spokane. Vince Hoffart says it was a little after 4 a.m. when he heard 2 bangs.

"I looked outside and there was a truck with red and blue lights flashing. Looked like SWAT team members were deploying in the yard," said Hoffart.

And a neighbor not far from Hoffart near Buckeye and Cuba had a similar story. Sarah Paden said she too woke up to 2 booms and flashing lights.

Many people living near the homes that were raided had no idea what was going on and were frightened. However, some had their suspicions of drug activity because of heavy traffic.
