SPOKANE, Wash.--A North Idaho couple launched an Earth Day campaign to drum up donations to fund a plan that aims to help solve the world’s energy crisis. They had raised $5,300 in less than 24 hours on Tuesday night.

Scott and Julie Brusaw said they hoped to one day replace all asphalt roads and parking lots in the United States with solar roadways.
The couple said the roads would power the country with energy from the sun. They added software and led lights would eliminate the need to paint lines on roads. A heating element would make traditional snow removal obsolete.
