KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho -- Idaho State Police said multiple slide offs and wrecks shut down part of Interstate 90 near the Cataldo exit Tuesday afternoon. Authorities on scene said two people were killed in the wrecks.
Those two people have been identified as 36-year-old Korie Mullican and 39-year-old Benjamin Mullican.
The incidents occurred in both the eastbound and westbound lanes. The interstate had been blocked on and off and was down to one lane in each direction around 12:30 p.m.
The fatal crash happened around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators said the Mullican's were headed East when the driver lost control and veered into the Westbound lane. The SUV was then T-boned by a semi truck that ended up crossing into the other lane before crashing, according to authorities.
There were two people in the semi. The driver, 58-year-old Philip Giesbrecht, and passenger 72-year-old John Giesbrecht did not suffer major injuries. The two people in the SUV died.
All together there were at least three wrecks near Cataldo on Interstate 90 on Tuesday.
