MOSCOW, Idaho -- Rescue crews in Moscow, Idaho are pulling out all the stops to train for emergencies.

Dozens of firefighters, deputies and Red Cross officials set up a mock disaster today in a park just outside of Moscow.

Crews worked to save some people hurt on a fake ATV ride, in addition to going through a simulated school shooting. Police secured that scene before rescue crews worked on students pretending to be hurt.

Officials say these fake scenarios help them prepare for events like the Boston bombing.

“The events that happened in Boston just brought those tings to light. It is very important to have the training and know what they’re doing in case something of this magnitude happens,” Joe Williams of the Moscow Fire Department said.

The mock disaster took about six months to plan.
