SPOKANE, Wash.--The number of people applying for new concealed pistol licenses in Washington is skyrocketing. The state has issued close to 30,000 concealed pistol licenses to people who have never had one before the first four months of this year. Records show that is 10,000 more people than the same period last year.
Records show many of those CPLs are going to women.
KREM 2 News requested the most recent number of concealed pistol licenses from Washington's Department of Licensing. They report more than 25,000 men in Spokane County hold active CPLs. More than 6,800 women have one too according to the records.
