HELENA, Montana--  Firefighters rescued a pair of mountain lion cubs from a wildfire in Montana during Labor Day weekend.

Crews said they did not expect to find wildlife in the flames.

They told reporters they came across a burning log and heard the cry of an animal.

Not long after someone yelled that they had found a couple of cougars.

Crews brought the two cubs back to their camp.

After cleaning and drying them, crews said the kittens became the center of attention.

The cubs were taken to an animal shelter in Helena, Montana.

Depending on their rehabilitation, animal workers said the two cubs will either be returned to the wild or given to a zoo.
