LEWISTON, Idaho -- Another megaload was stopped along Highway 12 Tuesday.
Officials say the oversized tractor trailer was heading east on Highway 12 when it hit and took out a 20 foot tree branch near Lewiston. Then it snagged a guy wire and knocked out power to almost 1,300 people for nearly five hours overnight.
Tuesday city workers cleared the tree branch debris, saying most vehicles would not have come close to hitting it.
“Off the center of the road it was 29 feet off the ground and they still hit it so these loads were over 30 feet tall,” said Brian Jarolimek, a city worker.
The Idaho Department of Transportation has stopped the shipment until the two collisions are investigated. The load could be moving again within the next couple of days.
