BELLEVUE, Wash. – A man on a burning boat on Lake Washington was rescued by another boater Thursday afternoon.
The boat fire was reported near Pleasure Point in Bellevue at about 12:30 p.m. A large plume of smoke could be seen for miles coming from the lake.
The man on the burning boat says his engine was running rough and, when he opened the engine compartment, it burst into flames.
Police say a couple in their home heard a boat alarm, looked out their window and saw the fire. After calling 911, the husband went down to his ski boat and raced out to the burning vessel to rescue the man on board.
The rescued man suffered minor burns.
