AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. -- A man was killed over the holiday weekend after performing a motorcycle trick at the Spokane Motorcycle Raceway Park in Airway Heights.
The Kevin C. Hamann, 51, had just completed a double jump and was entering a turn, according to witnesses. They said it appeared the man’s throttle stuck open as he drove straight off the track.
The motorcycle went airborne and landed approximately 45 feet from where it left the track. The rider continued to tumble after he was ejected from the motorcycle. Witnesses said the rider landed on his head after becoming airborne. The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Sheriff's Office Collision Investigators investigated the scene. Based on the evidence it appeared the dynamics of the collision matched witness accounts.
The Spokane County Medical Examine completed an autopsy on Hamann on Tuesday. The autopsy ruled his death an accident. Hamann died from atlanto-occipital disarticulation due to blunt head and neck injuries according to the autopsy.
