SPOKANE-- It was a busy night in Downtown Spokane as law enforcement pursued a suspect on foot and by air.
It started around 10:15 at the Fred Meyer grocery store near the Thor/Freya exit off I-90.
Police tried to pull over Petr Karapetr, 22, in a BMW, but he took off toward downtown. He allegedly struck another car on the way as he tried to avoid police. The victim in the second car was uninjured.
Officers found the suspect’s car at Luigi’s Italian Restaurant in the 200 block of West Main, but he already fled on foot.
Several law enforcement vehicles sped around downtown looking for the suspect. The Washington State Patrol and the Spokane Police Department also used bike officers on the ground, in addition to Spokane County’s Air One helicopter.
Police finally found Karapetr in his home, where they took him into custody. He was charged with eluding police, a DUI, a hit-and-run, reckless endangerment, driving with a revoked license and obstructing justice.
