SPOKANE VALLEY -- 26-year-old Coeur d’Alene, Idaho man told police that he was robbed Monday evening as he walked along Sprague Avenue in Spokane Valley.
The victim told Officer Jason Karnitz that between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. he was assaulted by two suspects who knocked him down and took cash from his wallet. At the time of the robbery, he was walking eastbound headed for Coeur d’Alene.
As he walked, he felt something tug on his backpack. He said that when he turned, he was immediately struck in the eye and began trying to defend himself. However, he was struck additional times and ended up falling to the ground.
He was able to hang onto his backpack, but one of the two suspects pulled his wallet from his pants and emptied it of cash. He thought the robbery occurred somewhere near a Saab dealership.
The victim described one assailant as a Hispanic male in his 30’s who was 5’10” to six feet tall and 180 to 200 pounds with short dark hair and a thin mustache. He said he had two teardrops tattooed under his left eye and a scar on his right cheek. He added that the man has worn a “poofy” black jacket, dark blue running pants with white vertical stripes, and dark Avia-brand running shoes.
He described the second suspect only as a male about 5’08” tall with a thin build. He said he too wore a black jacket.
The victim gathered up his wallet and walked to the Flying J Station at I-90 and Broadway to call police.
