SPOKANE, Wash.—Spokane police were investigating an attempted child abduction on Saturday. Police said they received a report around 2:30 p.m. of the attempted child abduction near E. Diamond and N. Crestline.

The police report showed two ten-year-old girls were walking north on Crestline when a late 80s or early 90s dark green GMC Jimmy SUV pulled up near them. It added the male driver sat in his car and motioned for the girls to come over.

The girls walked away, then ran and climbed a tree to get away from the man, according to police. The man got out of his car, grabbed one of the girls, carried her to his car and put her in it, according to police. Police added the other girl followed and yelled for help.

Police said the girl in the car was able to open the passenger door and get out. The girls ran to safety, according to police.

Police said the suspect car took off northbound on Crestline.

The suspect is described as a tan or Hispanic man, in his late 30s to early 40s, had bushy hair and possibly facial hair and was wearing a white shirt.
