SPOKANE-- Spokane County Deputies arrested an 18-year-old man after he allegedly went on a crime spree Thursday morning in North Spokane.

On Thursday morning, around 12:30 a.m., Spokane County deputies responded to the Wandermere Albertsons regarding a possible attempted vandalism call. Deputy D. Westlake contacted the complainant who told him he had been parked in his vehicle in the Wandermere shopping center near Shari's restaurant when he saw a male cross the highway. The witness said he saw the male throw something at the window of a dry cleaning business in the complex located at 12519 N. Division.

Deputy Westlake drove to the complex and saw where a rock had been thrown against a window leaving a white dust film, but not shattering the window.  At about that time, dispatch advised there was an alarm at Fat Daddy's back in the Wandermere shopping center.  When Deputy Westlake arrived he saw the front door of the business was shattered.

A Spokane P.D. K-9 unit assisted in clearing the business.  After securing the business Deputy Westlake and Deputy S. Audie assisted with tracking the suspect north from the business.  When they reached a chain link fence, deputies located a two rubber sandals, one on each side of the fence.  They also located a cash register and broken liquor bottles they later confirmed were taken from Fat Daddy's.

The witness described the suspect as a white male, late teen, wearing a red hat, black jacket and shorts.

Around 2:30 a.m., Deputy R. Brooke located a male walking near the area of Hatch and Wandermere matching the suspect description.  Deputy Brooke detained the male, identified as 18-year-old Mitchell Sander, and requested the witness respond to the scene.  The witness positively identified Sander.

Sander was booked into the Spokane County Jail on the felony charge of 2nd Degree Burglary.

Spokane County day shift patrol responded to two additional burglaries.  Crews responded to the Rite Aid in Wandermere Shopping Center where Sander was caught on video throwing rocks at the Rite Aid window in his unsuccessful attempt to gain entry.

Crews also responded to the Wandermere Golf Course.   Sander admittedly broke into the club house at the golf course.

Two additional charges of Attempted Burglary and 2nd Degree Burglary have been included.

Sander was also charged with Vehicle Prowling Thursday. He was in possession of a Riverside High School ID card when he was arrested.  The victim described the vehicle as well as several other items inside her unlocked vehicle.  Those items were found on Sanders.

Detectives plan to add an additional Attempted Burglary charge for Sander's unsuccessful attempt at shattering the window at the dry cleaner's across from the Wandermere Shopping Center.
