SPOKANE, Wash. -- After a long standoff Friday morning, Spokane County authorities arrested a man with a long criminal history.
Deputies said Jeremy S. Brown, 28, barricaded himself in a home near Harrington Avenue and Dick Road. Deputies said it started around midnight when they attempted to pull Brown over on suspicion of drunk driving. Brown did not pull over and led authorities on a high-speed chase.
After a few miles, Brown hopped out of his truck and took off on foot. The truck kept rolling and it crashed into a fence and a parked car.
Investigators said Brown hopped over several fences then broke through the back door of an acquaintance’s house. Authorities were able to get the residents out of the home safely.
Brown stayed in the home for several hours before attempting to crawl out of a back window. However, deputies were waiting for Brown and quickly apprehended him. Upon further investigation, authorities found a discarded handgun in the home, they believe belonged to Brown.
Brown faces several charges including alluding police, DUI, residential burglary, among other charges. He has a criminal history dating back to 1996. Brown also had a felony Department of Corrections warrant out of Idaho for his arrest.
