Lilac Festival queen, royal court crowned

SPOKANE— Directors for the Spokane Lilac Festival announced the 2012 royal court Sunday in Spokane.

Judges crowned Sydnee Scofield of Central Valley High School Queen for the “Dream & Reach for the Stars” court.  She will ride in the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade this spring in Spokane.

Six other women were also named princesses.  Those women include Hannah Allen from University High School Katie Sweeney from Mead High School, Jasmin Hallam from John R. Rogers High School, Alexis Schwartz from Ferris High School, Linnea Kessler from Cheney High School, and Hailey Murray from West Valley High School.

Scholarships in the amount of $1,500, provided in part by the Downtown Spokane Kiwanis, were awarded to each of the seven members selected. An additional $1,500 scholarship was awarded to Queen Sydnee from the Ralph Husom Spokane Lilac Festival Past President’s fund. Queen Sydnee also received the Spirit of Lilac Scholarship provided by the Spokane Lilac Society.
