LEWISTON, Idaho -- A Lewiston police sergeant who has been on administrative leave since April resigned following an Idaho State Police investigation into an allegation of misdemeanor sexual battery.

City Attorney Jamie Shropshire tells the Lewiston Tribune she has declined to pursue criminal charges against Ted Piche.

The Tribune obtained police records through a public records request. The ISP investigated a complaint that Piche made unwanted sexual advances toward a woman at his house on April 20. An investigation found that Piche and another officer had taken the woman to the hospital three days earlier because she was suicidal and highly intoxicated.

The investigation found Piche later invited her to his house to drink and watch a movie.

In February 2012, Piche received the department's highest award for helping to apprehend a bank robber.
