COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) -- A north Idaho man convicted for driving drunk and getting into a fatal accident has been ordered to spend 21 months in prison.
The sentence was handed down Thursday for 23-year-old Nicholas P. Allman of Kamiah. Allman pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in June for his role in a crash that led to the death of James Oatman Jr.
Investigators say Allman attended a party on Oct. 28, 2011 in Kooskia, was drinking and appeared to be intoxicated when he left with Oatman and one other person.
An hour later, Allman's car left the roadway, rolled down a steep embankment and all three men were ejected. Oatman was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
