OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jay Inslee raised $1.2 million in cash contributions last month, just slightly more than his Republican opponent, Attorney General Rob McKenna, who raised $1 million.
In filings with the state Public Disclosure Commission that posted Tuesday, Inslee tallied $1.2 million in cash, plus more than $52,000 in in-kind contributions like catering and event entertainment, though the largest in-kind contribution was more than $11,000 in staff payroll from the state Democratic Party. Inslee, a former congressman, had $3.4 million cash on hand entering the month of September.
McKenna reported that he raised $1 million in cash, plus $38,000 in in-kind contributions. Filings show he has $3.7 million cash on hand. McKenna's campaign has already committed about $2.8 million of that for TV ads for the fall.
