COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) -- A Spirit Lake woman who wandered off the trail while hiking on Chilco Mountain has been found safe after a cold night in the wilderness.

Twenty-seven-year-old Alisa Franck told The Coeur d'Alene Press she spent Saturday night huddling to keep warm in the snow.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's office says they got a call reporting her lost on Saturday evening. Franck had been hiking with her boyfriend, 42-year-old David Dodd, when she became disoriented in the dark and was unable to find their arranged meeting place. She called 911 and stayed on the phone until the battery died, and dispatchers determined she was appropriately dressed for the weather.

Searchers found her early Sunday morning, when she was able to walk out on a road leading to a snowmobile parking area.
