BONNERS FERRY, ID. -- Boundary County Sheriff's deputies say a man died after jumping from a train moving through Bonners Ferry Tuesday night.

Burlington Northern Railroad officials called authorities early Wednesday morning to reporting seeing a body on the side of the tracks south of Bonners Ferry.

Deputies determined two men from Naples, Idaho, Dustin Dodge, 25, and Jebediah Burney, 19, boarded the train illegally in hopes of reaching the Deep Creek area. Officials say when the train reached that area, it did not slow, and both men jumped from the train while it was traveling approximately 40-45 MPH.

Dodge died from injuries sustained during the jump at the scene. Burney suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges will be filed by the Boundary County Sheriff's Office.
