SPOKANE, Wash.-- Hundreds of volunteers showed up for Spokane County United Way’s annual Day of Action Thursday.
The volunteers worked on over 20 different projects, including weeding and cleaning, reading to kids, and serving food to residents in northeast Spokane neighborhoods. Twenty-nine local business teams, including Avista, were part of the efforts.
"We've been committed to United Way for many years and we think what United Way does here in the community is great for those who live here," said Dennis Vermillion, Avista Utilities President.
More than 400 volunteers participated in United Way’s 2013 Day of Action.
