SPOKANE, Wash.—Spokane Police Major Crimes Detectives were investigating a shooting incident that happened just before 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. Police said the shooting happened near the intersection of E. 9th Avenue and S. Perry Street.

Officers responded to the shooting location after they received a call that shots had been fired at a party, according to police.

Police said there was an argument between two men at a gathering. They said several shots were fired by one person, identified as 41-year-old Roderick D. White. No one was injured and the group fled on foot, according to police.

Officers said they learned that White was the suspected shooter and lived nearby. They found White in the backyard of a nearby residence and was arrested, according to police.

A search warrant was executed at White’s home and a vehicle, according to police.  SPD said detectives located substances believed to be narcotics, three handguns and a rifle inside the vehicle.  Detectives said they located drug paraphernalia, scales and a large amount of what was believed to be narcotics in the residence.

White was booked into jail on charges of 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. Police added White is a convicted felon and therefore unable to possess firearms.

This investigation was on-going Saturday.
