SPOKANE -- A woman who lives next door to the 4-alarm fire that badly damaged an apartment building, is counting her blessings and thanking firefighters for keeping the flames from her historic home.
Joan Reuthinger works in Medical Lake. She hurried to her home near South Lincoln and Lincoln place after hearing about the large fire Tuesday.
Just a couple of car lengths separate Reuthinger’s house from the apartment. Her home was built in 1902 and is on the historic register for the City of Spokane. Reuthinger has spent the last 20 years restoring the woodwork inside.
She said she is grateful to firefighters for preventing any damage to her home.
