FREEMAN, Wash. -- A head-on wreck forced authorities to close Highway 27 near Freeman early Tuesday.
Authorities said the driver in a red car heading southbound crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic. The red car then hit another car around 5:30 a.m. about two miles south of town.
Medstar was dispatched to the scene. The two drivers, both female, were sent to the hospital. The driver of the red car suffered a broken leg.
Investigators said the driver who caused the wreck fell asleep at the wheel.
A detour was put in place while Washington State Patrol investigated. The roadway was closed for hours but reopened around 8:45 a.m.
WSP troopers said niether drugs nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
