GRESHAM, Ore-- A man traveling from Gresham who was reported missing was found safe Wednesday morning in Seattle.

Police said thanks to media coverage, they received several valuable tips from people who had recent contact with 76-year-old Gary Gochnour. Gochnour, who suffers from dementia, was originally supposed to arrive in Seattle on Feb. 21, but had not been heard from since leaving Gresham on Feb. 19.

Gochnour contacted his family in Seattle around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. It was not known exactly where he was for the past two weeks, but his family was relieved to hear from him.
According to one witness, Gochnour appears to have been in Seattle for several days with a U-Haul truck, looking for a home to rent.
Gochnour was reportedly planning to move to Seattle to live with his sister.
